Welcome 2010!

Hey Red Rock Fans…supporters…fellow hope & dreamers. This bi-coastal LA, MD, up and down life has been crazy, but great. It’s been quite a while so I have a few updates to report. I attended the premiere of “Orphan”, which was really scary and very well executed. I sat in front of Isabelle Fuhrman, who played Esther. She’s only 11 and really sweet, but her acting chops are serious. CCH Pounder who played the orphanage nun was also nearby. I’ve been a fan of hers since Demon Night back in 95’. After the movie I told her “You were really great in the movie.”, and she said “I was really dead in the movie!” It was funny because if you’ve seen it you know what she means.
I went to the advanced screening of “It’s Complicated”, and it was Hi-Larious! Meryl Streep is great as a normal woman finding herself again after divorce and she brings that genuine complexity to life, but Alec Baldwin… OMG, so naughty. LOL The leads didn’t attend, but some of the other cast members did, and it was a great night.
The PSA I directed for LA County Child Support Services has just been completed. It will air on Santa Monica City TV 16 on this December 31st. It was a voluntary labor of love for the charity through the Women In Film PSA program, but it was worth it because the final product came out really well. The PSA’s are submitted for Emmy consideration, so my fingers are crossed, and prayers abound. I’ll have the video up on the website this week.
Christmas in Maryland with the fam fam was great! The movie “Precious” was painful and brilliant, and I hope it gets all the award recognition it deserves. Monique’s character will go down in history as one of thee greatest villains. Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” was very inspiring. The Chipmunk Squeakquel was really funny especially the diva way the Chipettes moved those hips. And Avatar in 3D is a breathtaking, action packed must see. For my Bollywood fans, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is Shahrukh Khan at his best; completely believable as a mousy nerdy guy trying to be cool for the love of his life.
I’m glad to be back in LA and ready to hit the film pavement. I am so excited as Red Diamond Films Inc. gears up to pitch its first feature film for funding this coming year. More details will follow. 2009 was hi and low, Our First Black President was sworn in, but we lost Michael, Farrah, David Carridine, Ed McMahon, Patrick Swayze, Dom DeLuise, Natasha Richardson, Brittany Murphy, many more and my Grandma Bernadette… These losses are so huge. RIP beloved.
Happy New Year Everyone!!! 2010 !
